Quick Review: Beasts of the Southern Wild
Beasts of the Southern Wild is a wonderful example of uniquely bold and imaginative filmmaking. It’s a stunning piece of independent cinema with powerful performances from its entire cast of FIRST TIME (!) actors. This fresh ensemble fuels their characters with such emotional depth that it makes your typical Hollywood celebrity lineup look almost like amateurs. It’s fascinating to watch the film with that in mind. Beasts of the Southern Wild will quickly pull you in with its grand sense of childlike wonder, and leave you still wiping away tears far into the ending credits.
I don’t need to keep raving. Just see this film, you won’t find anything else quite like it this year.
